Coaling Tipple. Here is an original telephoto view that I took from atop the Pennsylvania Railroad's coaling tipple in East Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 11 September 1965. Here is a view facing railroad west. At the far left are the eastbound Receiving and Classification Yards. The squar building in the center is the Power House. Beyond it is Juniata's 17th Street Bridge. Also note the yellow work train with a 250-ton wrecking crane; the orange building is the Railroader's YMCA. |
