| Coaling Tipple. Here is an original photo that I took from atop the Pennsylvania Railroad's coaling tipple in East Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 11 September 1965. Here is a view facing northwest toward Altoona. Visible at the far right are the PRR's Westbound Classification Yards, now filled with hundreds of junk freight cars. In the center are dozens of deadlined Diesels and passenger cars. Juniata's 17th Street Bridge is also visible. |
